I didn’t realise VAT going up to 20% meant increasing prices by 20%

While out and about at the weekend I ended up in a kebab shop that I frequent often enough for the staff to know me. I was shocked by the cost of my order! Looking at the price board above the counter the prices that I remembered from before had gone up by about 20%.

This notice made me think!

Sign spotted on the door of local Britannia branch “Proud to be part of Co-operative Financial Services”. I couldn’t help thinking wouldn’t it be cool it there was a similar notice on the NatWest saying “Ashamed to be part of RBS”!
The Western Gazette and The Rampisham Transmitter

The Rampisham radio mast closure story makes the pages of the Western Gazette this week, but they seem to think it’s a television transmitter! Fairly typical of the standard of journalism in some local papers I’m afraid. They also manage to somehow link the story to The Dorset Broadcasting Action Groups campaign for a BBC
